Climbing Line - New England The Fly 120'
Description: We are proud to offer our clients New England “FLY” climbing line. Field tests conducted by our clients resulted in very favorable
feedback and confirmed our suspicions…the FLY is a quality product that will perform as expected by the professional Arborist. The FLY is considered to be a low-stretch Kernmantle rope, a construction that differs from conventional arborist ropes, like 12-strand and 16-strand. Despite that, the FLY (7/16” diameter) is about 2lbs lighter per 100 feet than traditional 12-strand or 16-strand climbing lines. That means you will require less energy to haul the line throughout the canopy of the tree, this difference in weight is especially noticed when you perform a static foot-lock. We have also used the FLY with assorted ascenders and descenders in both dynamic and static climbing systems. We found that the cover strands can occasionally “pic” when toothed ascenders are used, such as a hand and chest ascender for SRT. Beyond that we have little negative to say about the FLY. It is a well-balanced climbing line with a good feel and knotability that is very well suited for professional tree climbing.
